iPhone Apps (Plus Android and BlackBerry) For Everyone

by Social Media Commando on April 27, 2010

iPhone apps are available for everyone, including Android and BlackBerry apps as well. What’s the name of your iPhone app?

Has your site gone mobile?

It seems like creating an iPhone (or Android and BlackBerry) app is something that only large companies and obsessive tech nerds can get it on — right? Wrong. There’s a company called Motherapp that’s making the creation of your own mobile app as easy as 1-2-3, literally.

The apps I’m speaking of are simple representations of your blog and can include up to three other types of content, including Twitter posts, YouTube videos and RSS feeds. So if you’re looking to create a video game or some other type of utility, sorry, Motherapp isn’t for you.

The point of using the service is to share your content with mobile users however they find it convenient. That’s why you have the option to build an app just for the iPhone ($99 per year) or to include the Android operating system and BlackBerry too ($199 per year).

Mobile Content Is About Choice

You might be wondering why you need an app. I can hear it now, “Joe — I don’t need an app, I have a blog that gets solid traffic and even makes me a few bucks in advertising.” Or perhaps, “I’m a business owner, why would I want to publish a blog application when I just want people to make a purchase?”

The reason is your audience.

Motherapp helps you focus on the growing mobile web. Just think about how often you jump on the web via a mobile device like an iPhone. By getting in the game now you’re setting yourself up to grow your audience in a market that will only get exponentially more competitive as time goes on. And you let visitors know you care about them.

Companies like Mashable — a social media news service — offer their app for free so people can read up on their latest news however and whenever they like. But it’s not all about altruism. When you make it easier for visitors and potential customers to view your content, you also make it easier to share, which in turn gives you a better shot at growing the audience further.

So…what’s the name of your iPhone app? Mine will be released shortly…
