apple-iphoneHow do you use your iPhone to capture content?

Do you realize the thousands of free opportunities you come across daily to grab original pictures and videos that will drive people to your blog?

Here’s a look at 3 simple tools to help you produce compelling blog content using your iPhone:

1. ColorSplash

ColorSplash is a photo editor that lets you create dramatic looks by converting images to black and white, while keeping your chosen details in color (ColorSplash refers to this effect as ‘selective desaturation’). In plain English, you take a picture then open ColorSplash, which turns the image black and white. Next you select the parts of the image to apply color to.

colorsplashFinding the right picture for your blog and new posts is important because compelling images draw readers into the story. However it can be time consuming and difficult to find the right picture Online. Now you can turn everyday photos you capture with your iPhone into striking blog material.

ColorSplash is available in the App Store for $1.99

2. TweetMic

TweetMic lets you publish audio recordings taken from your iPhone onto Twitter, and it’s incredibly simple to use. Once you’ve downloaded the app, simply press the big red ‘record’ button to start and stop. I like using TweetMic as a tool for sharing interviews and creating mini-posts on the fly.

Never again will you miss the opportunity for an exclusive interview or blog topic with your iPhone at hand!

Once you publish the tweet, your recording will be housed on your own TweetMic page, and you can use a permalink to access each audio recording (this gives you the ability to link to specific recordings on your blog posts).

TweetMic is available in the App Store for $0.99

3. Video

This may seem like a simple recommendation, but many people who own the iPhone 3GS aren’t aware it is capable of recording videos, allows for simple edits, and is equipped for one touch publishing to YouTube. If you’re not shooting video to share on your blog, you could be missing out on one of the easiest ways to drive readers to your blog.

Press the camera button on your iPhone, then slide the button on the lower right from camera to camcorder to get started. After you’re finished recording you can either select the little yellow box on top and move it left and right to edit frames out of the video, or choose the share button on the lower left and choose ‘Publish to YouTube’.

Video recording is only available on the iPhone 3GS

blog-commandoAlright troops, now you’ve got some serious blogging weapons in your arsenal! But don’t stop there. Incorporate sharp photos, videos, and audio into your blogs while keeping an eye out for new apps and technologies as part of your blog battle plan.
